The Hypnotist: Confidence to Identify and Remove Ticks
In an interesting episode for summer holidays in the moors, woods and countryside: yes, this is about calming anxiety about unpleasant insects that burrow and bite, such as ticks. Adam Cox helps you to look at such perceived threats in a different way — to disassociate from anxiety, and to build your confidence to deal with such infestation!

The Hypnotist: Hypnosis to Unlock Your Inner Strength and Power
Adam Cox shows how we all have reserves of inner strength and power which are much greater than we realise. Athletes competing in the Olympics show how they have mastered the ability to tap those reserves; this episode uses a broad metaphorical approach to help anyone to see that they don't need to look elsewhere. You already have those resources —Adam will help you find them.

The Hypnotist: Confident Beliefs About Birds
The entanglement of phobias and beliefs is a curious characteristic of the human condition. This episode tackles one such, in relation to birds — but the approach which Adam Cox takes to interrupt that association could help in other areas too. Most phobias are maintained by association, but what is it that builds these fears? Maybe something you've read or watched, but it may also be an association subconsciously introduced by others. Break that association! Lose that phobia ..

The Hypnotist: Hypnosis for a Healthy Relationship with Alcohol
If alcohol is a need, a compulsion, then it easily turns into an addiction. That can turn into arguments, embarrassment and inappropriate behaviour. But if it's a choice, it's possible to build a more healthy relationship with alcohol. Adam Cox invites you to explore regression to a point when you were without alcohol, and move towards it being that matter of choice, not necessity.

The Hypnotist: Releasing the Pressure Cooker of Unworthiness
When a gruelling six-week campaign results in rejection, as with nearly 300 Conservative and SNP MPs, it may well result in a sense of being overwhelmed, at your wit's end: stressed, unworthy, depleted of your own resources. Adam Cox uses the pressure cooker metaphor to help release some of that baggage from the past. Don't let it push you over the edge — replace that stress with something useful.

The Hypnotist: The Still Lake — Calm in the Storm

This episode could help with what looks like a challenging time in politics, in the UK, United States — and now France too.

Thought for the Week: Learning takes a Lifetime
We all have so much to learn from others as well as from our own experience. In his April 2015 Track Record, Sir Martin Jacomb, who died on 8th June, referred to Gordon Richardson, Bank of England Governor from 1973 to 1983, as his mentor, but it was Martin himself who was my fount of wisdom. Everyone, even Prime Ministers, could benefit from a mentor, and I was fortunate indeed to learn from Martin. Background music: introduction for Share Radio's Track Record programme

The Hypnotist: The World is Safe and People are Good
It's easy to understand how the big picture people hold is often quite the opposite to this episode title: every day the media seems full of bad news and awful stories. While it's important to remember that bad news sells, this often leaves a deep scar on listeners' perceptions, and that can grow into a mindset of retreat. In contrast, if we can develop a belief system that people are fundamentally good (that's not to say there are no malice or deceit, but more of a general outlook on life), it's possible to look outwards in a positive and empowering way.

The Hypnotist: Electrical Dog Collar
The electrical dog collar is a rather cruel way of imposing a comfort zone by creating an aversion to crossing the perimeter. Adam Cox uses this analogy to describe what we often do to ourselves, drawing inwards to avoid the anxiety which can arise as we go beyond our comfort zone: it can lead to being somewhat of a recluse. Adam proposes rising to this challenge by building resilience for going beyond that perimeter, by developing new ideas and strategies better aligned with our vision for the future.

The Hypnotist: Hypnosis to Release Trauma from the Past
This episode helps tackle trauma suffered in the past, perhaps in childhood or teenage years, which can hold people back in the present. Adam Cox uses the technique of disassociation to break the link, thereby helping to build a sense of security and provide confidence in the present.
