The Hypnotist: The Phobia Elimination Pattern
Hypnotists break down phobias by creating a 'stepping stone': building a third person substitute: however, in order to be effective for the individual, that focus has to be transferred to the first person perspective. Adam Cox shows how this can be achieved, and how to become resourceful, competent and calm to deal with whatever troubles you.

The Hypnotist: Hypnosis to Learn From Past Relationships
As George Santayana said, 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it': and Adam Cox shows in this episode how that can also apply to personal relationships. He uses timeline therapy to help you re-visit previous relationships, and how they could have led to different choices. You can't change the past — but you can build resources through experience and perspectives to extract lessons for the future, in order to avoid history repeating itself.

The Hypnotist: Hypnosis to deserve self care
You might think that self care sounds somewhat selfish, but it's worth remembering that you can't pour from an empty cup. You need to look after yourself to be able to care for others. So if you're struggling with prioritising self care and to look out for your own interest, it's worth remembering those last two words of the instruction to love your neighbour — as yourself.

The Hypnotist: The Wardrobe of Audacity and Fearlessness
Imagine if you could reach into your wardrobe and select whatever emotional resource state you wished, in the same way as choosing what to wear? This episode draws on theories of behavioural psychology which enable a degree of self-control so that you can, for example, choose when to be fearless or when to have a high level of confidence. Needless to say, this is not just personal: marketeers use it deliberately to create an anchor designed to maximise their promotions.

The Hypnotist: The Bodyfat Powerbank
As a physical energy source, bodyfat can be compared to one of those electrical powerbanks you use as a reserve for your mobile phone or tablet: a store of energy for when you need it. When you reduce food consumption your bodyfat store will start delivering, but it's important to get the balance right. A calorie deficit and a low insulin environment is a reasonable approach, but vegetables providing fibre and water won't hold back the process of weight reduction, and will do you good. Bear in mind also that the brain uses a lot of energy, and doesn't draw down from bodyfat — so check carefully when embarking on a weight loss strategy.

The Hypnotist: Quietening The Inner Voice of Compulsive Eating
Compulsion is very different from habit: there's an internal dialogue driving that action, so that it feels essential in order to avoid some unpleasant consequence. It's not just eating, although that is the subject of this episode — it can apply to anything you feel you have to do, such as repetitively checking things or washing hands. It's therefore closely related to OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and arguably a form of superstition, which is thought to affect between 1% and 4% of people. If this is something you experience, Adam Cox helps to break those patterns of inner dialogue to provide you with freedom of choice.
