There's merger speculation that housebuilders Bovis Homes and Berkeley Group could join forces. It follows a story in the Sunday Times saying Schroders, the second largest shareholder, had written to the board to suggest the move. UK dividends rose 6.6% in the last quarter of 2016 - great news for investors who focus on getting an income from their portfolios, but can it be sustained? Letter volumes at Royal Mail are down 6 percent and that's hit the share price, while marketing company St Ives tumbled than 30 percent after a profit warning. But price comparison service Moneysupermarket had a strong Q4 and was rewarded with an improved share price. In retail Pets at Home shares were down despite revenue growth while car and bicycle parts Halfords will pay a special dividend to investors.
