Meanwhile across the pond the US Fed has raised interest rates with attention now turning to what the Bank of England will do next. Culture secretary Karen Bradley's referred the Fox/ Sky bid to Ofcom and the Competition and Markets Authority. 21st Century Fox is offering £11.7bn for the 61% stake in Sky it does not already own. The company said it was "confident" the takeover would be approved. Critics of the merger fear it will mean Rupert Murdoch has too much control of the UK media. So can the takeover succeed after failing in 2011? James Brydges recaps the issues the regulators will be looking into.

It’s been a mixed week for the job market. The surveyor’s organisation, RICS, bemoaned the potential loss of 200,000 essential EU workers in the construction industry if Brexit bites. And on Thursday, Morgan Mckinley's London employment monitor picked up a fall in the number of jobs on offer, blaming Brexit uncertainty. To assess the mood of the market, Becky Barr of Adzuna, joined Nigel Cassidy on Share Radio Breakfast.

A survey by Grant Thornton showed that of 5,500 businesses in 36 economies, the proportion of women in senior management has reached an all-time high of 25 per cent, up 1 percentage point from 2016, and up 6 percentage points since the survey began in 2004. Share Radio's Sara Macham spoke to Kate Cooper, Head of Research, Policy & Standards at the Institute of Leadership & Management, to find out how the UK fared in the survey compared to other countries.

Last week the Chancellor announced £500m worth of investment into technical education as part of the budget. Amongst the changes we'll see the introduction of new T-level qualifications aimed at teaching vocational subjects. To find out more about the investments being made Sarah Pennells spoke to Petra Wilton, Director of Strategy and External Affairs at the CMI.

H&T Group, the UK pawnbrokers, who offer loans, pawn services and cash for gold, has released its full year results. So how is the company doing? Steve Fenerty, Finance Director at H&T, joined Nigel Cassidy on Share Radio Breakfast to discuss the numbers.

Car dealer Lookers has posted record profits for the year to the end of December - its eighth successive year of turnover and profit growth. Revenue increased 17% to £4.3 billion, while profit before tax rose by 46% to £91.8 million. To analyse the numbers, Robin Gregson, CFO of Lookers, joined Nigel Cassidy on Share Radio Breakfast.

How happy are you in your job? A recent survey found the average UK employee ranked themselves at 67 out of 100 on the happiness scale, and that four fifths think employers are just as responsible for ensuring happiness at work. To find out what things make us happiest at work Share Radio's Sara Macham spoke to Matt Weston, director at recruitment consultant Robert Half.

Recruitment firm Morgan McKinley have recently released their UK 2017 Salary Guide revealing a year of mixed fortunes for professionals. Uncertainty has weighed heavy on the UK jobs market however it's not all doom and gloom especially for industries such as technology.
