Impax Asset Management group has just announced results for the year ended 30 September 2016, describing it as one of the most successful years in their nineteen year history. Profit before tax are flat compared to last year, increasing to 5.2 million pounds from 5.1 million pounds, but these were up against more difficult background for investment. Ian Simm, Founder and Chief Executive, joined Share Radio to discuss the results.

Could a damaged cross-channel power link mean an increase to electricity prices?
As the National Grid launched its report into the future of energy networks yesterday, it's also rather concerned with a power connection perhaps more important to the present. The National Grid is investigating damage to the The Interconnexion France-Angleterre, which gives the UK access to French power and vice versa. Power capacity has been cut in half and, as winter approaches, so grows the UK's energy demands. To find out more about the causes and consequences, Share Radio's Matt Cox spoke to Diarmaid Williams, International Digital Editor of publications Power Engineering International & Decentralised Energy.

Energy expert Peter Bild on OPEC deal to cut production
OPEC has reached a deal to cut oil supplies for the first time since the global financial crisis in 2008, prices are expected to rise above $50 a barrel as countries with large oil reserves like Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies accepted big reductions in production. OPEC decided to cut 1.2m barrels a day to about 32.5m b/d for six months from early 2017 after six hours of talks in Vienna. Our energy expert in Vienna Peter Bild joined the show to discuss.

President-elect Donald Trump has reportedly already held at least two phone calls with Vladimir Putin - more than with any other world leader and the same amount of briefings he's had with American intelligence experts. Mr Trump praised the Russian president during the election campaign and has promised closer co-operation between the two countries. Some analysts have suggested the favoured "castle approach", the act of building up security measures to stop threats from getting in from the outside, is outdated because most breaches occur from within. Scottish cyber security software specialist ZoneFox is one company using machine-learning to monitor internal business computer activity and flag up threats. Matt Cox spoke to Dr Jamie Graves, the CEO of ZoneFox, to find out more.

On Sunday, Italian voters will go to the polls in a referendum on whether to curb the powers of the senate. The polls suggest Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who has promised to resign in the case of a No Vote, is on course to lose. As Italy's fragile banking sector struggles to stay afloat, a change of government, which could see the populist anti-EU Five Star Movement elected, will have severe repercussions for the Italian economy and the Eurozone. A number of companies which provide VPN's (Virtual Private Networks), or encryption services, are reporting a growth in the number of UK customers. One catalyst for this increased interest is the Investigatory Powers Bill. This will oblige internet providers to record which websites and services their user’s devices connect to. As a result, some UK based users are choosing to use tech companies which can hide their browsing habits. Matt Cox has been hearing more from tech consultant, Chris Green.

Black Friday is on and bargain hunting shoppers may spend an estimated £2 billion trying to beat expected new year price rises. And according to the online retailing association IMRG, well over half the spend will be done online. So it might seem surprising to find that two old pre-internet age stores are being revived on the High Street. Safeway and Austin Reed are both staging a comeback, so Matt Cox has been hearing from Mintel’s Retail Analyst, Richard Perks, about the return of these old names.
