Belts are already being tightened but as bills head even higher more people will look to save where they can. But are there some things that you should avoid doing or cutting back on at all costs? Campaigns to get people not to pay their bills have obvious flaws, but what about only paying for the energy you use, diverting your pension saving elsewhere or cutting back on ditching saving or investing. Some are at breaking point and will have little choice but to do some of these things, but what about those who are still heading off on holidays, going ou for dinner and drinks, or getting takeways in - should they hammer down on discretionary spending before stopping saving? Google’s acquisition of YouTube is now remembered as one of the most successful tech acquisitions ever, but that result was far from obvious in 2006. Bloomberg reporter Mark Bergen is the author of the upcoming book “Like, Comment, Subscribe. On Amazon Prime, James looked at Memory, a poor thriller starring Liam Neeson, directed by the once-great Martin Campbell.

There's also an idea for getting energy from waves, facial recognition for one type of salmon, how Surrey Police have been tricking drivers by manipulating Waze and an e-VTOL plane that can land in your garden – with an optional parachute.

Professor Tim Evans of Middlesex University pays tribute to Mikhail Gorbachev, explaining his great historic importance. He discusses how Saudi Arabia is seizing the diplomatic opportunity presented by the energy crisis.
