The Hypnotist: Financial Future of Security
A yearning for financial security has been a feature of human life for millenia: both creating it and keeping it is a challenge. Adam Cox explores these anxieties and the value of planning ahead, preparing and doing 'due diligence' to reduce risk. But the key thing is to come to terms with the changes and chances of life: 'Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these'.

The Financial Outlook for Personal Investors: NASDAQ's bear market & Amazon's buyback
Russ Mould of A J Bell looks at the rally in the NASDAQ and warns that history shows that, even in bear markets, there can be substantial rallies. As he points out, all the problems for the growth stocks that caused the market to fall are still present. He also considers Amazon's buyback plan and stock split, the first time the company has returned cash to investors since its market debut in 1997. Discussing buybacks in general, happening a great deal in the UK at the moment, he cautions investors to see whether the board are also buying into the company.

Motley Fool Money Mid-week: "It's almost everything for the Russian economy"
That's how Bill Mann describes the importance of the oil & gas industry in Russia. As we take stock of where we are at this moment, Bill discusses ripple effects for European countries, whether seizing property of Western companies would spell the end of foreign investment in Russia, why Energy Secretary Granholm's recent comments give him hope, rising raw material costs affecting companies like McDonald's and Domino's Pizza, and the J Curve. Plus - If Russia provides just 3% of America's oil supply then why have gas prices spiked in the US? Ricky Mulvey talks with Nick Sciple to get some context.

The Business of Film: The Batman, Ali & Ava, Against the Ice & The Metamorphosis of Birds
Most films are suffering the onslaught of The Batman, says James Cameron-Wilson, looking at the UK box office. This dark version of the Dark Knight, almost 3 long hours long, took £13.5m over the weekend, the 3rd highest since the pandemic. British indie comedy Ali & Ava made #9. James had reservations about Netflix's true-life survival drama Against The Ice, a Danish-Icelandic co-production. But he loved Portuguese The Metamorphosis of Birds, almost a new cinematic art form in itself, out in selected cinemas and on various streaming platforms.
